Turn on your vehicle’s hazard lights and if possible get to a safe location after your motor vehicle accident. Stay calm and check for injuries. Take pictures and/or video of the damages to your vehicle, the other person's vehicle, the other person's ID and car insurance information, and of the location of the accident. Obtain names and telephone numbers of eye witnesses and check for cameras from local businesses.
Always insist on contacting the police after a vehicle accident even if the other driver does not believe it is warranted. State only the facts and leave emotions out of your statement to the police officer. Police Reports are usually ready between 5-10 business days especially in Dallas.
If you have serious injuries call 911 immediately and ask for an ambulance. If you feel you aren't injured at the time of the accident, it is still important that you get a thorough evaluation of your injuries by a doctor for your car crash injury claim.
